Just received my Midas CF29 tripod a few days ago and I am giving it 4 Stars for now. It has 5 Star potential as there are a few minor issues that need addressed. Upon unpacking and mounting my 7.5 lb. airgun, I had quite a bit of play between the mounting base and the ball head, it was coming unscrewed. Upon investigation, I found a set screw that had not been tightened. Then, I had excess play between the ball head and the quick-release base plate, which I tightened. Then I found that I couldn't get a good enough grip on the quick release locking knob in order to securely tighten the quick release to my Picatinny to Arca conversion plate. A single locking lever similar to a quick release scope mount would be great. Then I found the same difficulty with the ball head friction control knob and the fluid pan lock knob. You just can't get a good enough grip on these knobs in order to tighten them sufficiently to perform their intended function. Hopefully they will loosen up over time. These are just minor problems and would not stop me from purchasing another Athlon Midas Tripod. The foregoing is just a bit of constructive criticism. Overall, this unit is very well built, with many extras, and I think these tripods will become very popular.
